Portland Climate Wake-up Call

Description

What to do:
Set your phone alarms to go off at 1218 and come to Pioneer Square. Bring bells, alarm clocks, kazoos and signs! When your phone goes off, hold it up and gather in the center with others whose alarms are going off.

Once everyone is together raise your other arm like a clock hand and begin to swing it down in a circle, one small movement at a time, chanting "tick" with each movement (like a ticking clock). Start the chant slow and quiet, slowly picking up speed and getting louder.This is the human clock of time running out to act on climate change. End in applause/noise.

We'll then take a group picture and call call our Senators,the White House, and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyeto to demand a Fair and Binding deal at Copenhagen. On the Senate version of the American Clean Energy and Security Act, we'll also ask for massive investment in renewable energy and efficiency technology, aggresive and mandatory emmissions cuts to keep warming below 2C, and financing for adaptation in low-income countries
